2006 Coaches Vs. Cancer Final Results
The 2006 tournament was once again an overwhelming success. Thanks to the support of many Businesses and the amazing turnout of fans we once again eclipsed the $50,000 mark. Raising this amount continues to rank us near the top of the Coaches Vs. Cancer fundraising events in the country, college and high school. The gym was a sell out every night and the energy was electric.
The 2006 Girls division saw the return of two of our areas top programs to the final for the second straight year. Defending state champion Elmira Notre Dame edged out the Blue Devils of Elmira Free Academy 69-62 to once again take home the Championship trophy. This was top notch basketball and next year will only get better with the addition of Horseheads and Waverly to the girls division.
In the Boys division the Horseheads Blue Raiders returned to the final for the second consecutive year and came away with a 81-77 victory in what was a great game against a tough team from Utica Notre Dame.
